Nothing less than nine films, of the 18 selected for the Brazil Film Fest, which will take place in China, have been censored. The festival is scheduled for November this year in the cities of Beijing and Shanghai. The curator of the show, Anamaria Boschi – who has lived in China for three years – says that he expected that.
* Among the features and documentaries that have been censored are “O Bandido da Luz Vermelha” ("The Red Light Bandit"), "Uma Noite em 67" ("A Night in 67"), "Mangue Negro", "Dzi Croquettes" and “Cabeça a Prêmio." The thing was to the point that “Linha de Passe” – winner of a prize at Cannes in 2008 – had to go through an editing before being displayed and therefore was removed from the festival. Annoying, isn’t it?
