With nearly fifty years of music history, Gilberto Gil is one of the most important names in the Brazilian culture. A proof of this is that the singer in running for the title of icon of music from the last 50 years, against names likes Elvis Presley, Beatles and Michael Jackson.
* CNN, in association with the North American magazine “Songlines”, put the Brazilian in the list of the 20 most relevant musicians and said that he is the “live proof that music can change the world”. On the next 25th, the five nominees will be announced here.
* This May, another American publication “Fast Company” put Gil amongst the 100 most creative people in business in 2010. The singer just wrapped the European tour of his latest work, the CD “Fé na Festa”.
