The LVMH conglomerate swears it is not interested in taking control of Hermès, but that doesn’t mean they don’t consider increasing the number of shares of the French fashion house.
* Currently, the company controlled by Bernard Arnault owns 17.1% of Hermès, and by having more than 15% of the shares it was forced to make an official statement on the company’s intent in coming months. And it happened on Wednesday: LVMH announced that it doesn’t intend to be the majority stakeholder of the brand and that it won’t make a public offering within the next six months, but the catch is that in the statement nothing was said about buying new stocks.
* In the statement, the conglomerate also said it plans to invest in Hermès on the long term. "We support the strategic vision, growth and positioning of Hermès International," the letter said.
